Kara Keddie

UX Product Designer creating thoughtful, inclusive tools for healthcare & mission-driven teams; where clarity, trust, and human impact matter most.

Overview

With over 3 years of experience in UX and Product design across both freelance and in-house roles, I create user-centred solutions that blend strategy, creativity, and care. I’ve worked in regulated environments like medical devices and digital health platforms, where clarity, trust, and precision are critical. While healthcare has been my core focus, I’ve also contributed to projects in finance, fashion, and tourism, always designing with people, not just products, in mind.

I bring a cross-disciplinary approach to every project, combining research-driven insight with inclusive design thinking to turn complex systems into experiences that feel intuitive, accessible, and empowering. My process is meticulous yet empathetic; shaped by a deep interest in usability engineering and mental wellbeing.

True to my INFJ (Advocate) personality, I’m drawn to purpose-led design that builds trust, supports informed decisions, and improves people’s lives; especially in healthcare, education, and mission-driven tech.

When I’m not designing, I’m usually out adventuring with my dog, turning daydreams into doodles, hand embroidering, or making little things that bring a bit more joy to everyday life.

Things I’m Curious About

I’m interested in the ideas, moments, and details that shape how we live and how we design. Some topics I always enjoy talking about include:

I’m interested in the ideas, moments, and details that shape how we live and how we design. Some topics I always enjoy talking about include:

  • Usability engineering, human factors, and inclusive design in healthcare

  • Creative practices like illustration, painting, embroidery and craft-making as tools for reflection and calm

  • Hiking and nature walks (great for thinking those design ideas through!)

  • Travelling for meaningful cultural experiences and learning about different beliefs and ways of life

  • The undeniable cuteness of animals, especially dogs (especially toy poodles)

  • A good documentary or reading recommendation (bonus points for anything about people, psychology, or design)

  • And the ongoing search for the next insta-worthy cafe or restaurant (more bonus points for vegetarian/pescatarian/dog friendly!)
